Tying the Mickey Finn (Black Nosed Ace)

What You Need
Hook: Mustad #36890 2/0
Thread: 8/0 black
Body: Black floss and flat silver tinsel
Wing: White, Yellow and red buck tail
Mickey Finn (Black Nosed Ace) 1 Start by dressing your hook from the eye back to the point of the hook with the black floss. Make sure that you have an even base.
Mickey Finn (Black Nosed Ace) 1 Tie in a 4-6 inch piece of flat silver tinsel. Continue up the hook shank to add to the base of the body. Repeat the covering of the shank with floss until you have created an even body. Tie off the floss wit two half hitches. Tie in your black8/0 thread.
Mickey Finn (Black Nosed Ace) 1 Make two close wraps with the tinsel behind the floss body. Continue forward up the shank making sure that your wraps are evenly spaced. Tie off the tinsel and trim the excess. Tie in a small bunch of white buck tail. Trim the tag ends at an angle.
Mickey Finn (Black Nosed Ace) 1 Tie in a bunch of red followed by a bunch of yellow and then a small bunch of white. Complete this step in the same manner as the first bunch of white buck tail that was tied in. Create an even head with wraps of thread. Tie off with half hitches and add some head cement.
